Pearl River, Pearls, and Schedules

Ok, Where did we leave off.

We were headed on the Pearl River Tour.

It was great, beautiful lights, the tower, the 3rd tallest in the world was quite impressive.  The lights were amazing on it and the girls loved looking at them.

We tried to get a good pic of Olivia and Emily on our shoulders.. but... well...maybe next time :-)

The colors and patterns of lights changed constantly, i need to improve my night time picture taking.

No party is complete without balloon animals!!

One of our friends/ fellow adoptive mommy's got very sick during the Pearl River cruise, she had to go to the hospital so we took their son.  Jed was best friends with Olivia in the orphanage and they seem to get along well.  We bedded them down in the same crib and he started to cry and Olivia rolled over and put her arm around him.  They giggled for about 20 min and drifted off to sleep.

This was my favorite position they were in when "Dad" came to pick him up! :-) See we're not terrible at this parenting thing... someone trusted us with their sweet kiddo.  Jed is an EASY going boy.. piece of cake.

Today we went to the famous pearl market and man o man was there a lot of pearls, the pictures dont do it justice.

You can get a pretty good deal on pearls but it's overwhelming to know what to look for.  Fresh water/ salt water/ quality... we got a crash course in them but lets just hope I got a few decent things.

Next we went to Shamian Island, it's a bit like New Orleans by appearance.  We walked around and looked at the pretty sights.

It was a busy day and the kiddos showed it.  We learned the importance of Schedules.  Today's events didn't allow for naps (unless in the stroller) or any other kind of scheduled item that might be good for a little one.  It wasn't even half the day but it felt full.. the heat and humidity didn't help anything.  :-) We did get them settled in early tonight.  Whew, now a bit of quiet for Mom & Dad!

Tomorrow is an early but short day.  We have our US Consulate appointment bright and early.  We meet to "take the oath" to promise to raise the girls as good Americans... something like that.  :-) It's our final "adoption" related appointment.  After this, all paperwork will be complete, visas issued and we will head home on Friday night/ Saturday morning.

I still can't believe they're going to just let us bring them home! They are settling in more every day, learning to love us and each other.  It's amazing to watch.

Until tomorrow!!
